A Place to Call When Times Are Tough

Are you, your family or someone you know facing financial emergencies related to rent, utilities, food, automobile gas or medications? Then you need to call this number:
540-366-2490

The phone line is open 24/7.  Messages may be left and a volunteer will return your call.

We are now serving single parents.

This volunteer-run service assists in obtaining emergency financial assistance and referral services to single mothers in financial distress.  All applicants are screened by telephone and all applicant information is kept confidential.  Assistance is limited to the following categories:

  • Threat of eviction (must have notice)
  • Threat of loss of essential utility (must have cut-off notice)
  • Housing deposit
  • Food
  • Automobile gas
  • Medications

Williamson Road Ministerial Association, a collection of neighborhood churches (Bethany Christian Church, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Huntington Court United Methodist Church, St. James Episcopal Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, and the Williamson Road Church of the Brethren) also has an outreach program run through the Helping Hands office.  Ask us about this resource.

The Helping Hands ministry is funded by the congregation through donations.  A local foundation called Lifering provides funding as well. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has also been a valuable contributor through providing matching funds.

Help is just a phone call away!
