Hunger hurts ALL of us!
“For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink.”
Hunger is the most extreme form of poverty. People cannot afford to meet their basic needs for food. Nine-hundred-sixty-three-million people in the world are hungry today. Daily, almost sixteen-thousand children die from hunger-related causes – that’s ONE child every FIVE seconds!
At Trinity, our care and concern for our neighbors gave birth to our Hunger Ministry. In addition to educating our congregation about the causes of hunger through temple talks and articles in our newsletter, we work to make a difference one mouth at a time, by supporting local community organizations and world wide efforts through food collection drives and opportunity for giving events.
Trinity Hunger Ministry events include Souper Bowl Sunday, Pancake Supper Love Offering, Soup Dinner Awareness and local Crop Walks. Our efforts help combat hunger by supporting such programs as Tour de Revs, Second Harvest Food Bank, The Rescue Mission, Trinity’s Helping Hand Ministry, St. Mark’s Food Pantry, and the ELCA Lutheran World Hunger Appeal.
